Soul GardeningWe are all individuals, all needing nurture, love, support, understanding and so on. Without these feelings and actions we are in effect starving ourselves, not feeding our soul. I picture the soul like a garden, we tend to our gardens, working through the weeds ( niggles, emotions ), watering our plants (nurture ), tending to the soil ( grounding ) cultivating beautiful flowers (appreciation) and feeding our plants (nourishment). I believe we need to look after ourselves in the same way. By having love and support on the inside we can freely love and support others. By appreciating ourselves, we know how to appreciate others. By being happy and content with who we are, we can be happy and content around others. Lots of people are seeking all of these things externally from others, they are unable to find what it is because I believe they have not yet felt it within themselves. Taking care of ourselves emotionally, spiritually and mentally leads to a feeling of balance and strength. We can still be there for others whilst working on ourselves.

I picture the soul as a soft bubble, and inside the bubble is a beautiful garden. I see the garden, lush and green, bursting with life (energy). To keep it this way it needs tending and nurturing, this is soul gardening.

Encompassing the energies of crystals, reiki, chakras, colour and visualization, all these tools combined help the individual to grow and evolve, becoming more aware of who they truly are. A path of transformation at the natural pace of the individual.


Visualization for base chakra

Crystals like red jasper or black tourmaline can be held.

Find a peaceful space, play some relaxing music or just be in the silence.

Inhale deeply and exhale calmly for a couple of times until you feel your body becoming heavy and relaxed. Close your eyes and start to visualize,

You are sat on the ground with your back against a large strong oak tree. You can feel and sense the tree is supporting your body. You can totally let go, knowing the tree will hold you. Relax, focus on your breath for a couple of moments, breathing in clear, grounding energy and when you breath out, you are letting go of the tension, fear, anxiety that you hold tight inside. Place your hands, palms down on the ground, feel yourself becoming centred with the ground, calm and still. I would like you to visualize a dense earth red colour, strong, solid and powerful. With every in breath visualize this colour entering the palms of your hands, travelling up through your arms, like a gentle mist, up into your body, travelling down into your legs to your toes. Your body feels strong, you feel more confident with who you are, able to take on the day's challenges with ease. Allow yourself to stay in this moment for a while, if your focus starts to wander, concentrate on the breath.

You become very aware of your heartbeat, slowly beating, strong and healthy. You can hear a gentle breeze blowing through the leaves of the oak tree, like earth itself breathing. Listen to the rhythm of nature, feel yourself becoming one with nature. You are feeling whole, complete and grounded.

When you are ready, bring your awareness back to the room. It helps to twiddle your toes and fingers and have a glass of water; I find it helps to bring you back into the here and now.

Visualisation for the 2nd chakra

Crystals like carnelian or rhodocrosite may be held.

Breathe deeply through your nose and breathe all negativity and distraction out through your mouth. Calm your mind and take your focus to your belly. The area just below your belly button, imagine this area as a quiet, warm safe bubble.

Imagine yourself entering this warm bubble by a soft door. Picture a warm, orange/salmon bubble in front of you. You see a door; now gently open the door and step inside, closing the door behind you. You are now in a safe sphere, it is quiet and calm. You see colours of orange and salmon pink, how do these colours make you feel? Does your sphere have comfortable furniture in it? What are the walls and flooring like? The more you look around your sphere, the more you will see. Place some comfortable cushions and furniture in your sphere, allow your imagination to fly and create a comfortable room for you. I now would like you to make yourself comfortable, ly down and relax. Concentrate and focus on the feeling of SAFE. Within your sphere nothing can harm you or upset you. Within the walls of your sphere feel the essence of love filling you and all that is around you, understanding and supportive. You have a sense of being in the womb, feeling safe, nurtured and content. I would like you to think of something about you that is great. Do you like your eyes? Or your hair or do you feel you are a kind and giving person? Focus on something that makes you feel great about yourself (this may seem a little difficult at first because we are always putting ourselves down but persevere) YOU ARE SPECIAL, YOU ARE UNIQUE, give yourself a big pat on the back and a loud WELL DONE! Be kind to yourself, be understanding and supportive and be accepting of who you really are. Allow the opinion of yourself to soften and you start to feel content within.

Normally take around 10 mins.

I would like you to now sit up in your sphere and take another look around your room. Feel the energy supporting you, you are totally safe. I would like you to stand up and walk towards the door which you entered through. Remember when you are feeling alone, un-supported or just needing warmth and nurture, you can meditate and re-enter your sphere. Come out through the door and gently bring your awareness back to the room.

Visualisation for the 3rd chakra

Crystals like citrine or sunstone may be held.

You are standing on a path; this path is golden in colour and feels warm. The path stretches out in front of you. You can feel the warm sunshine on your back and a light scent of field flowers brought in on a gentle summers breeze. You gently start walking on your path, notice your path, are there any pebbles or rocks on your path? Or is your path clear of debris?

You continue walking and your path starts to gently become a little steeper, you notice that you are starting to walk up hill, you are climbing in height until in front of you is a beautiful grassy plateau. You see a granite boulder and proceed to sit down with your back resting against the boulder. It is supporting you and you feel warmth coming from the granite, gently relaxing your back. From your plateau you can see for miles around. The countryside and fields below resemble a giant patchwork quilt. You can hear birds singing and feel the warmth of the sun on your face. Allow yourself to be quiet and just sit, absorbing the energy of the sun, feelings of happiness, joy, determination and warm strength infusing your soul. With your in breath I would like you to draw in the sun's energy into your solar plexus (just underneath the rib cage) feeling your 3 rd chakra becoming stronger and stronger.

Continue for about 10mins..

You are now feeling free, uplifted and positive. You feel good about yourself; you can achieve anything with a little planning and intuition. Thank the sun for his energy and positivity, you stand up and start walking back down your path. It is now time to leave your path and start to bring your focus back to the room. You may be leaving your path but you are bringing positivity and action back with you.

Visualization for the 4th chakra

Crystals like rose quartz or kunzite may be held.

For this meditation it is good to place a piece of rhodonite at the feet. When a person is opening their heart chakra, they can feel a little vulnerable and un-protected; the rhodonite gently holds a person whilst they are opening up.

Holding rose quartz at the heart area, take a couple of deep breaths, relaxing your body and mind. I would like you to take your focus to your heart chakra and imagine seeing a green door in front of you and opening it. Go through the green door and in front of you there is a plant with a delicate flower. This flower is closed and we would like to open this flower so we can connect to its beauty and energy. I now would like you to think of a situation or event that made you feel so happy and full of life, a situation where you felt proud, a sense of achievement or maybe a time when you were happy to just give totally from the heart. Hold that feeling, bring that feeling into the now, into your heart chakra. The happier thoughts and feelings you remember the more your heart will open. You are starting to sense a feeling of real joy and lightness and I would like you to now focus on your breathing. With every in breath through your nose you are drawing in pure white light and positivity and with every out breath from your mouth you gently blow towards the delicate flower and can see slowly your flower starting to open. See her petals starting to stretch upwards and outwards, continue to focus on your breath until your flower is fully open. Now your flower is open you can see her beautiful centre. Take note of the colours and the delicate stamens in the centre. Now imagine yourself shrinking (like Alice in wonderland) and you are now dropping down into the centre of your flower. You land gently and gracefully in the centre, you feel comfortable and lovingly spoilt. Breathe in these feelings, allow yourself to relax knowing you are safe and supported within your flower. Allow yourself to stay in this moment for as long as you feel necessary. Continue to breathe in feelings of joy, love and happiness until you feel like you are going to burst! Take note of what you see in your flower; are the colours soft or deep? Do you feel strong and comforted in your flower?

When you are ready, imagine yourself growing taller and bring yourself out of your flower so you are standing full height in front of it once more. See how beautiful your flower looks in full bloom, your heart chakra is now fully open, enabling you to give and receive love freely with no conditions, note how liberating this feels. Well done!

I would like you to thank your flower and slowly come out of the green door and close it behind you. You can re-enter your heart chakra whenever you are feeling sad, un-supported or un-loved. This visualisation helps you to connect with your feelings in your heart chakra and give yourself some needed love, support and understanding.

Visualisation for the throat chakra

Crystals like turquoise or clear blue obsidian may be held.

Allow yourself to be comfortable, set aside some time where you won't be disturbed or interrupted. You can do this meditation sitting in a chair or lying down. I would like you to take your focus to your throat area. Start to imagine a beautiful turquoise mist being drawn into your throat by your in breath. Each time you breathe in you are drawing in more of the turquoise colour. With your out breath you are releasing tension, frustration and any blockages that you have held in the throat chakra. Visualise the blue mist clearing your throat, allowing clockwise swirls of energy to begin movement once again in this chakra. The stuck becomes un-stuck, all negativity is released and your throat feels lighter and clearer. You can feel the subtle movement of energy in your throat, like the gentle flow of a stream, washing away negativity. As you continue to sense the blue mist in your throat, think of the words...I want and I need. What is it you want to express or communicate? You have the right to ask for what you want and you have the right to be listened to with respect and patience. Continue to feel the flow of energy in the throat, you feel stronger and clearer and feel able to voice what it is you want to say.

Slowly start to bring your awareness back to the room but remember, try and speak out for yourself at least once a day and as you do, feel yourself growing stronger and stronger. If you find talking difficult you can strengthen your throat chakra by singing or doing something creative. If you start to feel frustrated or blocked at the throat you can release negativity by sound. Have a good shout in the car with the music up loud! Or go to an empty beach or woods and get it all off your chest by letting out a loud AAHHHH !You'll find it quite liberating.

Visualisation for the 6th chakra (3rd eye)

Crystals like amethyst or dumorteirite may be held.

Take your focus to the area between your eyebrows; this is the centre of your inner knowing.

Ly down and place a soft cloth over your eyes, this is to help you focus on the depth and stillness associated with this chakra. I would like you to visualise that you are gently floating up in the galaxy. You see colours of dark blue interrupted with small streaks of black and deep purple. The galaxy is vast, you can see for miles and miles. You feel calm, quiet and at peace with your mind. You are the only physical person in the galaxy but you do not feel afraid or alone. You sense other energies around you. You have a deep sense that they are with you to guide you and support you. Lose yourself in the space, enjoy the feelings of peace and stillness. Try and keep your mind focused only on the galaxy that you are in and continue to enjoy the connection you are feeling with higher energies. Let go of all logical thought, allowing the energies in your mind to deepen and just float. Take your focus to the 3rd eye area and visualise a deep, dark blue entering your 3rd eye. Your 3rd eye becomes completely absorbed by this deep repairing colour. Sense your 3 rd eye gently spinning in a clockwise direction, as it turns, the deeper your mind drops. Give yourself time to be still (about 15mins) and a sense of completely letting go.

The dark blue colour starts to give way to deep purples. With every in breath you start to draw this colour in through your 3rd eye. You feel your 3rd eye opening with each in breath, your senses and intuition sharpening. You feel connected to your inner self and feel strong in your gut feelings.

When you are ready, gently bring your awareness back to the room. If you are feeling a little spun out or not quite with it then you may need to hold a piece of black tourmaline or smoky quartz when you come out of this visualisation, it helps to ground your energies.

Visualisation for the crown chakra

Optical calcite is a good crystal to place just above your head when doing this visualisation. If you do not have optical calcite then you could use clear quartz, petalite, celestite, topaz, amethyst or rutilated quartz.

Ly down and make yourself comfortable and warm. Place a crystal at your crown chakra (just above your head).If the crystal has a point remember to have the point pointing up towards the universe. Imagine a beautiful silver beam of light coming from the heavens above and entering through the top of your head. This beautiful beam of light enters through the top of your head and travels down through the centre of your body to your feet. The silver colour infuses every part of your body, feeling like you have had a sherbet shower from the inside out. Every part of you feels connected and alive! Continue to visualise the silver beam of light travelling up and down through your body. You are now a clear channel, your chakras are clear and you are connected to all that is. Feel the life force (universal energy) fizz through your physical body; you feel connected to something higher, an energy that is supporting, reassuring and all knowing. You feel balanced and centred... now take a couple of deep breaths and gently bring your awareness back to the room.

Drink plenty of water afterwards to help flush through any negativity and help to ground you. If you feel dizzy or light-headed then hold a grounding crystal like smoky quartz or black tourmaline until you feel more grounded .
