Spring/Summer

Spring is here gently lacing through our subtle bodies bringing a sense of optimism, nurture and new beginnings. It is time to have a good stretch, allowing our limbs to stretch high and start to feel that new, fresh energy that is brought in by spring. A time to breathe deeply focussing our mind on the projects ahead. After the long cold winter we emerge slowly from our retreats like delicate shoots sprouting from the earth. Physically this is a time when we start preparing the earth for the planting of our seeds, starting to tidy our gardens after a long dormant period, clearing away the old making room for the new plants and flowers. Also in our homes this is a period when we like to discard the old and out-dated and bring in fresh light possibly by re-decorating, washing our windows and nets and generally having a good sort out within the home! Mentally we start to sow new seeds of inspiration, thinking of new projects and plans that we can work towards over the spring and summer. Thinking of ways to bring abundance into our lives, not just money but new friendships, happiness, joy and ways of being creative that truly feed our soul. Peridot is a crystal that you may be drawn to wearing or working with in spring. It is green in colour and the energy of Peridot can be described as the early dew that is present first thing in the morning. Peridot is detoxifying and helps to flush negativity and toxins out of the body leaving fresh space for new ideas, new ways of being and generally giving us a sense of renewed optimism. The energy of Jade is also good for this time of year promoting a readiness for action. Spiritually Jade encourages self realization, recognising ourselves as spiritual beings and reminding us to bring a sense of playfulness into our lives. Abalone or paua shell can be worn to bring in cheerfulness and inspire us on a mental level. When wearing paua shell (blue colour) our energy can feel lifted and we feel that we can achieve what it is that we are wanting. Pink Opal is another good crystal that allows us to shake off our masks. Sometimes we feel the need to wear a mask and not show our true selves. We do this sometimes for protection, not wanting our sensitive and vulnerable sides to show or sometimes we feel the need to do this to blend in, maybe at work or amongst different groups of friends. It is important that we be our true selves, being comfortable with who we are and not feel pressured to be someone we are not. We need to let our light shine bright and trust that we will attract people of a similar vibration, like minded. The Pink Opal helps us to remove our masks so that we can be our true self. When worn we start to feel what we are really wanting to do and what feels right for us. There is movement with the energy of Pink Opal and this in turn brings forward change. We should not fear the change but move with it. Pink Opal helps to open the heart chakra, clean out the false energy that does not serve us, opening us up to our true selves. A very deep spring clean within the heart!

As spring moves into summer we start to feel the warmth of the summer sun. The sun energises our physical and subtle bodies, bathing us in positive rays. In the physical world our seeds have been planted, the flowers blooming with beautiful colours and our vegetables growing with the abundant energies of the summer. Plans and projects that we started in the spring may be in full swing now, busy, busy, busy. The summer is a time to be outside (if the weather permits!) and enjoy the beauty that is all around us. Going to the beach, working in the garden, walking through the woods are all ways that give us time out from our work environment and allow us to connect with nature and her amazing energies. Watching a summer sunset is so magical, seeing the delicate hues of yellow, orange and red melt in the sky as the sun descends.

Crystals such as Amber, Citrine or Sunstone for me hold the energy of summer. Citrine which is a wonderful sparkly yellow is positive and uplifting to the wearer. Encouraging individuality, self confidence and the courage to face and enjoy life. Citrine makes us extroverted and brings out self expression. I have found Citrine to be mentally stimulating and so it is not always appropriate to wear it to bed because you may not be able to shut your mind off. Golden Amber when worn brings in a care free attitude allowing us to go more with the flow. The energy of Amber is soothing, flowing like warm syrup, nurturing and bringing in a sense of trust. People feel very positive and creative when wearing Amber. Sun stone is also a positive crystal bringing in happiness and allowing our sunny sides to shine. It helps to increase our self worth and self confidence. It brings in a desire for action which is great in the summer months when we are busy creating and manifesting our dreams and desires.

In the summer our energy is lighter and we tend to eat lighter meals. Lots of salads, fresh vegetables and fish. We no longer have the desire for the heavy carbohydrates, thick pulse soups or stews that we craved for with the onset of winter. Drinking plenty of water is important all year round but more so in the summer. Our body needs to be fully hydrated for us to be able to function at our optimum.
